Course Outline

This course lasts 4 - 5 days, depending on the needs and number of participants.
Each session lasts 1.5 - 2.5 hours.

Session 1: Introduction to the Course, Editing & Proof-Reading basics.

Session 2: Academic and Formal Language

Session 3: Organising a Report, Dissertation, Article or Thesis

Session 4: Writing the Introduction

Session 5: Reviewing the Literature and other Relevant Work 

Session 6: Writing about Methods

Session 7: Writing up Results and Drawing Conclusions

Session 8: Writing an Abstract

Session 9: Editing

The teaching/workshop sessions are followed by 30 - 45 minute individual tutorials to discuss papers/articles written by the participants.

Participants are required to submit one piece of writing of around 10 pages in length and to bring 2 examples of published/accepted material in their field by authors other than themselves.
